Completely devastated by a tidal wave a couple of years back, all but the dormitory of Lang River Guesthouse has been rebuilt from scratch. Generally very basic, bare buildings sit on the river banks. Bamboo and wood bungalows are attractive on the outside, but a little dark and cramped on the inside, as the large bed takes up most of the room. Private bathrooms out the back stand on open pebbled ground, the cold shower falling over the stones. There is no electricity. Other wooden bungalows have more space, with separate bare rooms, mattresses on the floor covered by mosquito nets, most with private bathrooms and cold showers ingeniously constructed from bamboo. There is also a large dormitory, clean and bare with large mattresses under mosquito nets, but no storage or locker facilities -- the dorm is often booked for passing group tours. It is a peaceful and pleasant place, but just doesn't compare to the established and organised Cave Lodge. It is a good place to go, however, if you prefer to stay away from crowds, or are on a very tight budget. One highlight of this place is its vicinity to the mouth of the cave. Every evening at dusk thousands of bats and birds can be seen entering and exiting the cave, a true sight of nature.
