About a kilometre up the road to Tham Lod from central Soppong is Rim Doi Bungalows, where the informative Ralf and his wife Lek have created a pleasant retreat. To the north, southeast and west of the plot are fields of green, a pleasant stream which runs through the land, and a gorgeous backdrop of teak-laden hills leading off to Burma. The grounds are well spread out and the decently built rooms are spacious with decent hot water bathrooms. There are gazebos and chill out areas, and a spacious restaurant which does some decent Thai food. As the trees grow to maturity this place has the potential to be a stunning spot. Hill tribe villages are within walking distance, and for further excursions or visiting the cave they will lend you a bike. Call in advance and they'll meet you at the bus station for a free ride. Good value.
