Description
This small, somewhat out-of-the-way guesthouse is a treasure trove of information on Nan province, wildly outperforming the dreadful tourist office in town. If you can, get a copy of their map to Nan province drawn back in 1993 that is still invaluable if you're exploring the province.

Though the guesthouse has become a little rundown over the years -- it was badly flood-damaged a few years ago and hasn't really recovered -- it's still a comfortable and homely place that draws a steady trickle of travellers.

Rooms are basic, mattress-on-the-floor affairs but are clean. It could do with a bit more sign-posting to direct people here, so you may need to persevere to find it.

i certainly wasnt there 13 years ago. but i find it still very accomodating. i was almost the only guest then. last thing i d expected in the high season. but overall nan is really quiet, not toursty at all. doi phukha gh was the friendliest guesthouse i ve ever stayed in thailand. the family was extremely helpful.

I stayed here about a year ago and before that about 8 years ago. Back then it was easily the best place in town -- as the review above says "packed with info". To see it last year was very saddening. It was still rolling on, but not the place it used to be. I give it an 8 (for the memories!)

Have you stayed at Doi Phukha Guest House? What did you think?

The Nanfah Hotel is the best value in town for the money. The bathrooms may be a bit dingy, but the piping hot water swings it.
