Nan Guest House
A popular clean spot

What we say:
The very long-running Nan Guesthouse is arguably the best guesthouse in town and those travelling on a budget should look no further. Rooms are smartly decorated and exceptionally clean, with both rooms with private bathroom and shared facilities available. Free WiFi is available throughout and minibar and TV are also available in the rooms with private bathrooms. Downstairs has some pretty jewellery for sale and just across the soi is a small garden cafe which is a good belly-filling spot for those not interested in heading to the market. The very friendly staff here are great advocates for exploring Nan and the guesthouse is popular with both Thais and foreigners. Recommended.

Brilliant Budget Guesthouse
When I give the Nan Guest House 5 stars, I mean it's excellent by the standards of budget guesthouses, not by the standards of 5-star hotels. But for a budget guesthouse, it's brilliant. I paid 250 baht for a room with shared bath and fan. The room was spacious, pleasant, and spotless. There were comfortable twin beds, each draped with a pretty Thai textile runner. There were three windows, whose shutters could be left permanently open, due to the impermeable window screens. The two towels had been cunningly rolled and folded to resemble two swans. The bathrooms and showers were clean. The lobby area was attractive. The guesthouse is on a lane well off a main road, so noise is not a problem. They have a cafe across the lane offering drinks and breakfast (Western breakfast only). Prices for beer from the cooler are more than fair. Rattha and Luck, the two women who run the place are very friendly and extremely helpful, with good English. Free, reasonably fast WiFi is available. As budget gueshouses go, this is as good as it gets.

Friendly and Helpful. Very Clean!
Converted from an old wooden house. There is no much sound insulation, so you do hear noise from the next room or floor. Very clean. Very comfortable mattress. There is a restaurant. A hand-drawn map provided during check-in is very useful. Ms. Ratha and staff are very friendly and are happy to provide information. The location is about 700m from the bus station, and it's near the museum, tourist office, temples, and the river. Although the price is a little higher than other guest house, it's worth it.

Clean and Excellent Service
This guesthouse is one of many in Nan. I understand now under new ownership - you can tell it has recently been refurbished and the foyer is full of Lanna art. Rooms are comfortable and quiet. No restaurant attached but they did direct me to a super restaurant called Just Jazz less that 5 mins walk away - serving both Thai and Western quality food - relaxing, good music and excellent service.

planned 2 days, stayed 14!
Great place: Friendly, helpful, clean, quiet and you feel at home in no time. I planned to stay only for 2 days, but at the end I stayed for two weeks.... and I will be back! Since I've been there Ratha and Luck have taken over the management in August 2010, and it's getting better by the day! There is not a lot of choice in Nan, but this budget place is better deal then most hotels (and certainly a lot cleaner!)

Was the Best, and it's getting better!
For a long time already the best place in NAN. A good location in the middle of the temple district and next to the museum. The last few years it has been standing still a bit (this was my fourth visit), but now it has new management and it shows already! They where in the middle of improving and expending, but it's a big improvement already. The rooms are the cleanest in town, the new staff is very friendly and helpful. At the moment I was there the extra facilities and restaurant are not fully up and running yet, but this won't take long, and they will always have a good advice where to go till then!

Fan room for 2
As we were traveling on motorcycles and needed rooms to stay for a night before traveling on, this guest house serve its purpose. Large parking space for our bikes, 7 of them. The single PC with internet works at crawling speed. The rooms were basic, spacious, but comes with a large bed instead of twin. Hot shower is fine. Bed spreads and blankets are cleean. Large towels. The staff are friendly and speaks English. The dogs are kept away, as we are not too keen on dogs as we were muslim travellers. Location can be a bit difficult to find. Very quiet location, nice to rest after a long day's ride. For GPS traveller cordinates are N18* 46.664' E100* 46.176'

Good value, helpful staff
Enjoyed our 2 nights stay here. The rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable. The owner helped us schedule a local Thai massage that was wonderful. On the downside, their computer designated for internet wasn't working properly, and other people had a difficult time getting food service. Located a 5-min walk from downtown in a ''quiet'' part of town. They have a big black loveable dog (not the barking type), but if you don't like dogs, probably not your best bet.

Rooms - fan & A/C have b'rooms
Rooms with fan or A/C have bathrooms attached as opposed to what is indicated in the description above. The rooms are clean & spacious. Centrally located close to the bus station & an easy walk to the main attractions, local restaurants or the markets. The guesthouse also provides food (homemade bread a speciality) and they have a guide who will take single people as well as groups on tours. I stayed longer than expected due to the relaxed and informal nature of the place and its location.
