Phu Lang Ka Resort
Great views, rooms average

What we say:
This small resort has not aged well and we were rather disappointed with it when we last passed through. It has a bunch of bungalows and rooms in a longhouse all built overlooking the valley in a breathtaking setting. The bungalows are basic wooden affairs, while the rooms are in a concrete longhouse -- none are great, the beds are awful and the prices are about 50% higher than they should be for the standard. Trekking and other sightseeing can be arranged if you are in luck with the staff -- perhaps we were just unlucky, but nothing was in the offing last time we passed through (early 2011). The resort is around the 33km marker from Chiang Kham, just before the village of Ban Pang Ma O. If coming by bus from Chiang Kham, ask for Phu Lang Ka Resort -- the driver will drop you off. Food is limited -- just basic Thai fare, and upon our visit there were no cold drinks -- just warm water and sprite -- we rode down to the village for supplies!
