LiThai Guesthouse

A hotel not a guesthouse

Don't let the name deceive you -- this is a cheap hotel, not a guesthouse. The rooms are very clean and better than at the Samainiyom and Asia Hotels around the corner. They are a bit more expensive, but well worth the extra cost. There are many choices of room types and prices, but all rooms have TVs and the air-con rooms include a simple breakfast. The staff are friendly, if a little clueless. Recommended.

Excellent Choice - 7th December, 2009
This is one of the most comfortable places I've stayed in this price range. I paid 350 baht for an extra clean and comfortable single aircon room with hot shower, cable TV, soap, towel, TP etc. etc., including a decent standard breakfast and all-you-want coffee. My friends paid 450 baht for a similar double. There are also cheaper fan room with shared bath options on the top floor. It is only a short, walkable distance from the train station as well as quite near the night market and the ''night zone'' strip of bars along the river. It's a cheap hotel but with a guest house feel. Recommended.

A bargain and very nice too! - 17th January, 2006
This place is has the bonuses of a hotel, without the cold atmosphere. The staff were really helpful, we arrived on the sleeper train from Lopburi at 1am in the morning and they did their best to check us in and get us to bed asap! The beds are very big and comfy and the rooms are large and clean. The only downside was the all-inclusive breakfast which didn't leave much to the imagination, but all in all one of the more comfortable places we have stayed.

Dual Pricing System - 19th July, 2009
I stayed a few times now and I'm fairly certain they have a dual-pricing system for foreigners. On checking in, they have a book with pictures which shows you the room types, what is in each and how much it costs. This is only in English. I paid the next day while they were doing the books, and compared my receipt with all the receipts and a chart they were keeping tallying room numbers with daily amounts being paid, and nearly all the rooms were taking daily payment amounts not stated in the 'fixed' price. I pointed this out by saying, 'look, how can this room cost this much', while pointing to one. She said it's a double. But there's no double at that price. So then she said it was two people in a single, but it wouldn't have been possible to have two people in the single bed I was in, for example. Also, my bill in the restaurant was higher than the menu, and this was refunded when I pointed it out. But drinks aren't listed there. Each time I had a drink, the same drink would cost me a different amount. Also, the phone rang at 4.30am but no one there. It's a shame, as the room itself was really nice, clean, ac, quiet.

Not reccomended - 11th December, 2008
Stayed just one night, staff were indeed clueless. Our room cost 400 baht but was one of the least comfortable rooms we've stayed in. White walls and sterile steel abound! Bon-Bon guesthouse next door got 10/10 from three different couples we met in phitsanukok.

Good for a night - 21st August, 2008
Pretty much your safest bet in Phitsanulok. Rooms were fine, clean and all of the above. However they have started digging up the entire street. So lots of diggers, trucks etc from 9am-6pm. So no quite lie ins. If I had to travel this route again id skip Phitsanulok altogether and make it straight for Sukhothai (much nicer) if heading north. 4 hours in Phit. is all you need.

Good place to stay - 17th December, 2006
It is only 5 min walk from railway.Had a single AC room. It was big, clean and the bed was good. Personal was very friendly and helpful.Breakfast was included. If you stay more than one night be ware that there is a room cleaning service during the day. But had absolutely no problems. could recommend it for your stay.

Good value for money - 13th July, 2005
Quite a good location within easy five5 minute walk to/from the railway station. Rooms were clean and breakfast was included in the price. The air-con worked way too well -- I had to turn it off -- so probably a fan room would be more comfortable.
