Cheap digs on the hill
The majority of guests here are pre-booked on one of Umphang Hill's tours, but they welcome walk-in trade as well.
The huts are positioned close together at various points on the hill, but astonishingly hardly any of the huts have a view -- strange considering the altitude that they are built at. we assume that 15 years ago they had views, but all the trees and shrubs have since grown too large and block any decent scenery, which is a shame. However for the price they ask you can't really complain, and to be honest you don't come to Umphang to sit in your hut… walk 100m in any direction from the huts and you'll be surrounded in lush paddy fields with views to die for. The accommodation is varied as there are quite a few different style of huts; the one man A-frame's are ample, as are the 4 person family huts. Don't expect anything flash though.
