Suda Guesthouse
Call ahead to be sure of a room

What we say:
This is a squeaky clean, pleasant, efficiently-run place and the owner, Suda, aims to keep her guests happy. The rooms are an exceptional deal for the price, and there's a nice lobby to hang out in on the second floor. Add 100 THB to the prices below if you want air-con. Showers are available for 20 THB even if you're not staying here. Thanks to a favourable review in a popular travel guide that shall remain nameless, Suda is almost always full, even in the off season, so call ahead for a reservation. If she's full, Suda will try to steer you to the Sri Chumphon where she can get you a discount, but there are better places to stay in Chumphon.

Not worth the hassle
Arrived in Chumphon by train from Bangkok and checked into Suda guesthouse for the evening before continuing on to Koh Tao. As soon as I arrived, the owner immediately began harassing me about my dive plans on Koh Tao, and offered to make the dive bookings. When I told her I had already arranged everything in Bangkok, she demanded to know who I had booked with, how much I paid, etc. She then lost all interest in me and when I asked about transportation to the pier for the Lomprayah ferry, she told me I would have to go back to the train station and find a bus. I later found the ferry office (a few blocks away) and was able to arrange free transportation to the ferry!! The guesthouse is indeed clean/tidy but if you're not willing to book your dive package, stay away from this place and it's nasty owner.

Not worth it!
Arrived in Chumphon by train and went to Suda Guesthouse for an evening before continuing on to Koh Tao. The owner immediately began hassling me about my dive plans on Koh Tao, saying that she can make all the arrangements. When I told her I had already booked everything in Bangkok, she quickly lost any interest in me. Worse, when I asked her about transportation to the Lomprayah ferry, she told me I would have to go back to the train station early the next morning and wait for a bus. When I asked her about a taxi, she told me I would have to wait to see if any other guests arrived (apparently too much trouble to arrange for just 1 person). I later found the Lomprayah office (a few blocks away) and found out that they offer free transportation to the pier! Suda guesthouse is clean/neat but unless you are willing to let her book your dive package, the owner will be unhelpful/misleading. Not worth the hassle!

Friendly, Nice place to stay.
If your heading to Koh Tao, via Chumphon, don't forget to visit Suda Guest House. Situated on Saladaeng Soi 3, right in the heart of Chumphon town, the owner Suda is a lovely lady who will help you to make your stay in Chumphon a pleasent one. Many rooms to choose from, singles to large family rooms. Any travel plans can also be arranged here. You'd be crazy not to have a look. Call before you arrive in Chumphon and transportation from Train Station and Bus Station can be arranged.
