New Guest House
The warmest reception available in Chumphon

What we say:
As you approach the Suda you may notice what looks like a garage with a hand-made sign advertising rooms to let within. You'll probably have to walk in and shout 'Hello!' a couple times to get the attention of the family that lives and works there, and you'll then get the warmest reception available in Chumphon. They have two sparse but acceptable fan rooms in the back, with shared bath and showers, and a back entrance so you won't have to walk through the house as you come and go. They clearly are trying to catch overflow from the Suda to make a few extra baht, but it's still a fun place to stay. They make their living off tea and coffee, so be fore-warned: three times a week from 08:00 to 12:00 they roast coffee out back in a big steel vat using an automated stirring mechanism that makes a bit of noise.

Friendly owners, clean rooms!
Mr Tan, the owner, is really the friendliest guesthouse owner you'll meet in Chumphon! After checking out Suda, we decide to check the guesthouse next door because Mr Tan welcomed us to his home like a long lost relative. They now call the guesthouse San Tavee New Rest House. They have built 2 new rooms so they now have total of 4 ranging from 200-300B. All rooms are clean and very well maintained. The shared bathroom got hot shower and very clean as well. We stayed for 5 nights and we had the chance to see the family do the coffee roasting only once during our stay. They also informed us the day before that they will do so from 8am till 12nn. It was low season when we visited, left today actually (27 May 2011) so there were no other guests. Highly recommended!
