Lanta Sunmoon Bungalow
A great hideaway

What we say:
Lanta Sunmoon Bungalow is a great spot just back from the beach, with a good selection of bamboo and concrete bungalows widely spaced throughout a lush garden. A short path follows the fresh stream down to the beach, which is great for swimming and very quiet. A bar and restaurant serves some slightly Westernised Thai food as well as Western dishes.

A bit confusing
I called before to make a reservation using the number found here. The guy took my reservation for a bungalow for expensive 500B - this is the beach after all. Khlong Jack is almost at the end, after the paved roads are over - seems like they will soon be paved - so the owner's son when to pick me up at the nearest little village. The settings of this place are quite nice, green and spacious, and the concrete bungalows (if there is such thing) are spread apart. The confusing part is that the place was mostly closed due to renovation and he hadn't told me that. They had no restaurant and half the concrete bungalows where already empty, since they are now building a new eating area and new wood bungalows. I got the feeling I was put in a house about to be demolished. There was one bed missing and the shower was a ridiculous string of water with no pressure. The furniture was improvised with hangers in a string attached to nails and also the inside bathroom walsl were being badly invaded by ants, lots of them. Yes, it had working AC and clean sheets, but it was a bit sad inside the abandoned house. The good part was some of the guys that work in the constructions there also live in the bungalows just a few meters away, and they are a lot nicer and helpful than the son's owner I'd say. They have dinner every night in a lovely wood platform and invited me one night - it was delicious local food and free, which was great since there are only expensive places to eat around and options are limited. If you choose this place, just make sure were are you staying and if the works are over...

Nice place at Khlong Jaak Bay
We stayed at Sunmoon for about a week, and we highly recommend it! Nice place, and very nice bungalows for only (?) 500 B per night! Furnitures and floortiling makes it miles better than the sheds we stayed in for 450 B per night in other places of Thailand! It takes a minute to walk to the beach, but it´s worth the walk! The sand is almost TOO powderlike. When you wish to eat or drink something, I would strongly suggest that you go back to Sunmoon. The staff at the two restaurants at beachside could really need a cours in how to be serviceminded! One dude wouldn´t even bother to get up from his rest on top of the icebox when I wanted to buy some water, and at One More Bar they looked at me like I was from outer space when I wanted to pay (it was impossible to get their attention when we had finished our lunch, so I had to go inside to pay and that seems to have bothered them- excuse me then).
