Central, stylish and popular
The Phra Nang's rounded mustard-yellow and brown building might look like a Swiss Family Robinson fortress from the street, but wander inside and you’ll find a nicely done small resort in as central a location as you could hope for.
There are two wings, both with rooms spanning two-floor attached buildings. The first is in the older round structure while the bigger and better one is closer to the beach and built around a narrow but long swimming pool. Rooms are thoughtfully decorated, almost with a Latin theme -- polished hardwood floors, yellow walls, paintings of tropical beach scenes in vibrant colours, hanging sea shells and turquoise counters in spotless bathrooms. Some rooms have balconies and/or Jacuzzi tubs oddly placed in the middle of the room, and all come with air-con, TV, fridge, safe and WiFi. We’ve found the reception staff to be consistently friendly and professional, with excellent English skills. An attached sea-view bar has low-key live music in high season. Dubbed Vacation Village, the same group also runs Phra Nang Resort on Ko Lanta’s Ao Kantiang beach. Substantial discounts can often be found through the hotel’s website and booking sites.
