Description
This garden bungalow outfit has a very large restaurant/reception area, and grounds full of green foliage and ponds like something out of a painting by Matisse. The notoriously cranky staff, however, are more along the lines of Edvard Monk. If you can look past that, the place has a nice atmosphere and good rooms. The air-con rooms are hotel-style, with TVs, fridges and safes, while the more basic fan rooms are good value for the money. It's a 20-minute walk to the beach, so consider renting some transportation or flagging down a songthaew on the main road.

Ok housing, cheap meals -

The staff were grumpy some days and kind other days. Very dependent of the mood of this person behind the desk. Not exactly a place were you got smiles every day. Highseason rates were 500B/n for the cheapest fan bungalows. No major bug problems except for ants running around. Make sure you do not throw any food/candy items in the trash. Food was good and relatively cheap, especially compared to the main beach front resturants in Ao Nang.

Ao Nang Friendly Bungalow
Ao Nang
If you're gonna give your place a name like Friendly Bungalow, you'd better deliver on the bon amie -- and this place actually does! We found a very amicable group of Thais running it, and left with smiles on our faces. It doesn't have the spit and polish, or the extensive green grounds, or the... more

Ao Nang Chaba Garden Bungalows
4/1 Moo 2, Off the beach, Ao Nang
This new place is at the end of the road at leads to Green View Village. It was just getting underway on our visit. It offers big bungalows with large porches -- unfurnished when we saw them, but they had a lot of potential. They're in a quiet, scenic location right next to the cliffs, which is a... more

Aonang Mountain Paradise
26/11, Moo 2, Ao Nang
This is another bungalow outfit, down a soi off Moo 2, in a quiet location beneath the cliffs. We're positively inclined towards all the bungalow outfits in Ao Nang as a good alternative to the so-so places closer to the beach, and although the atmosphere here is a bit spare and shadeless, and... more

Baan Pimphaka Bungalows
115/2 Moo 3, Ao Nang
This bungalow outfit is tucked on a hill sloping down from Moo 3. There's a nice restaurant/bar along the road with a good atmosphere -- but we found the staff here really rude. Still, the bungalows are a really good deal for the price. Some of the doubles can accommodate up to four people and work... more
