Description
We happened to visit this place twice in the course of a few days, and in the interim, a new owner had taken over and fired all the staff! We liked what we saw on our first visit -- it's in a very pleasant setting in a small valley, with attractive bungalows that are at one rustic and a upscale. The beds have nice mozzy nets and the bathrooms are jungle style -- always a fun touch in our book. The deluxe rooms have high ceilings and pine-wood walls! (Quite rare in Thailand) The pool is only so-so, and we did notice that some of the exteriors were in need of fixing up, but the new owner assures us he's on the case.

Ao Nang Bay Resort and Spa
31/3 Moo 2 Ao Nang
The entrance to this place is actually on Moo 3, just up the hill. From there, the grounds slope down towards the main road, featuring a nice pool and good views. It's owned by the same folks as the Ao Nang Resort, but it's a vast improvement in a lot of ways. The rooms are spacious and tasteful,... more
Emerald Garden Resort
90 Moo 3 Ao Nang
This spot is a long way from the beach, but has well-designed and tastefully decorated rooms -- you may have to book in advance for the one that has bongo drums. There's a pretty pool area, the staff are friendly and professional and the resort has a lush tropical feel. For the money, it is quite a... more
Tropical Herbal Spa and Resort
20/1 Moo 2, Ao Nang
This is a fairly-recent addition to the area, and is part of the new wave of boutique resorts in Thailand. All the accommodation is in the form of villas. Each one is unique and elegantly designed, with great attention to detail. They all have porches for lounging, plush bedrooms, stone-work baths... more
Aonang Paradise
25/18 Moo 2, Ao Nang
Not to be confused with Paradise -- The Cliff, the Aonang Paradise is laid out in a manner that's somewhat less cramped, but still a bit of a tight squeeze. Thankfully, most of the bungalows are one-story, rather than stacked up hotel-style, and they have a lot of character. The standard rooms are... more
Vogue Pranang Bay Resort & Spa
244 Moo 2, Ao Nang
The Vogue has some gorgeous rooms -- hard wood floors, four-poster beds, jacuzzi bathtubs giving on to the main living space, and great balconies with nice views of the surrounding country-side. Unfortunately, they're all located in one big, unattractive rectangular building, and the ones on the... more
Tipa Resort
121/1 Moo 2, Ao Nang
The superior and deluxe rooms here are well-furnished and well-designed, in a minimalist style feature crisp clean lines and tile floors -- though the porches are a bit small. The double bungalows are a bit more basic, with fewer furnishings, but still quite good. There's a nice bar up on a hill... more
