A stone's throw from Ao Nang Backpacker and a good 20-minute walk from the beach, the Fullmoon House has a small selection of Spartan wooden fan bungalows and concrete air-con villas with creature comforts.
Both options represent solid value, especially given the European owner’s laidback yet helpful personality. Air-con editions have black and grey tile floors, thankfully offset by big windows that let in natural light. They're large and designed for comfort rather than style, each with a soft bed, TV, fridge, hot water bathroom and veranda. A footpath down into a miniature valley and up the other side takes you to the original fan bungalows, all shaded under some trees. These are prime backpacker material, with little more than screened windows, double beds, fans, hot-water bathrooms and porches. If these are too cramped, a few larger fan bungalows had been added since our previous visit. WiFi works well in the lobby that doubles as a hangout area and has a big yellow elephant print behind the reception desk. Just down the hill beside the main drag, the Malibu Bar can be a fun place to chill but also might keep light sleepers awake, especially those staying in the fan rooms. Discounts available for extended stays.
