Bungalows scattered on a hill

What we say: 3.5 stars

A stone's throw from Ao Nang Backpacker, the Fullmoon House offers good value fan and air-con bungalows that look to have been plopped on the hillside with little rhyme or reason. The concrete air-con editions have black and grey tile floors, thankfully offset by big windows that let in natural light. They're designed for comfort rather than style; each comes with a soft bed, TV, fridge, hot water wet bathroom and veranda. A footpath down into a little valley and up the other side takes you to the wood fan bungalows, which were full when we visited but appear to be cute things with lots of windows and a bit more character than the air-con rooms. We were told they have hot water bathrooms but none of the extras found in the air-con rooms. WiFi works well in the lobby that doubles as a hangout area and has a big yellow elephant print behind the reception desk. The European guy who showed us around was laid back and friendly, and a low key bar was getting set to open at the bottom of the hill. Discounts available for long stays.
