Description
When we last visited we found the staff rude and the rooms outrageously overpriced. But man, oh man, did they get their act together! They've slashed the prices and started offering very sweet deals for walk-ins in the low-season (not a lot of tourists trek so far up Moo 3 that time of year). And we found the staff (the new staff, we assume) perfectly delightful -- we were given a tour by a congenial guy who spoke English well and greeted all the guests in their native language. We've always been fans of the pool here, a beautifully-designed series of connecting rings -- nicely compensating for the fact that it's pretty darn far from the beach. The warm reception lead us to consider the finer points of the resort -- the rooms are situated in nine-buildings with good views of the pool and surrounding mountains -- you'll have to climb some stairs for the best views, but the rooms themselves are really top notch and worth the effort. We're newly converted -- one of the best luxury spots in town.

Total rooms: 120

Deluxe- Double
4,500 THB (low season) 7,600 THB (high season)

Pakasai Resort

This is the first one along on Moo 3 as you go up the hill. As luxury places go, we weren't exactly blown away. It's big, and impressive -- so much so the atmosphere is impersonal, and a little empty. The rooms are good, but we found cozier, more tastefully-designed rooms elsewhere for half the... more

Paradise -- The Cliff Ao Nang Resort
85/2 Moo 2, Ao Nang
A big sign out front touts this place as one of the top fifty resorts in the world, but someone must have taken a pay off. It's wedged into a small space hear the cliffs, but doesn't provide nearly as good views as some of the cheap bungalow outfits up the road. The pool is very small and... more
