Right next to Peacock Hostel, Baan Korakod is set in a similarly rickety old stilted wood house and doesn't have quite as much character as its neighbour.
Rooms have a run-down feel and the common spaces are rather cluttered. The fan rooms are small and have ceiling fans to go with one window and TVs (surprising at these rates). Closer to the water, the much larger air-con room is more inviting and offers solid budget value, though it too relies on shared bathrooms. Across the street, the newer and more modern Korakod Guesthouse is run by the same family and has swish rooms with air-con, contemporary furnishings, glossy tile floors, soft lighting, tables, TVs and sea-view balconies on the upper floors. Both places are run by a friendly staff and are a quick stroll from the ferry pier.
