What we say:

The Ocean View remains cheap in the face of price hikes elsewhere on the island. Service is good, and it remains a well-run resort with a choice of rooms in the front building or bungalow rooms down the side and towards the beach. Rooms are spacious and clean, each with hot water showers, even in the fan rooms. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The fan rooms are pretty much undecorated while in the roadside hotel-style building, the air-con rooms are of higher standard with better bathrooms and decorations. The concrete bungalow rooms have TV, minibar and bathtubs. This place is a particular bargain during the low season. Close proximity to the beach and the friendly staff make this place a great option for budget travellers.

Not bad

But there is a pool as you see in their website photo. There are many resorts all up and down the beach on both sides so there is a huge choice of places to eat. There are a half dozen beach BBQ dinners going on every night and people socializing. Also it is a very quick and inexpensive tuk tuk ride to the port where there are so many excellent restaurants. See the reviews in Rough Guide to ...Beaches. I liked the rocky area in front because it had the only snorkeling right close. It is not really a snorkel destination. Great day trips from here available though to wonderful snorkelling. The beach ''ocean view'' bungalows look great but are very expensive. We stayed in a cheap air con room in the main hotel on the road which was mediocre.

Good for short stay

This place is located at the very southern end of Klong Dao beach, which is very beautiful. However the sea is rocky immediately in front of the resort so you have 2 walk 4 approx 1 minute for nice swimming. The bungalows are very clean,with a nice big bathroom with a bath and a powerful shower(cold). The aircon worked great and the tv. There was also a couple of power cuts whilst we stayed here, but i think these affected all of Lanta. The only downside of this resort was that there are hardly any options to eat out in the evening. The resort has its own restaurant which is ok but tended to be closed every night by 9pm!! and we stayed here mid April in 2007 which is still high season! The only other option to eat out(unless u get a cab to Saladan) is the Royal Lanta resort next door (2 min walk) which does serve terrific food at very reasonable prices. Overall I would recommend ocean view for a short stay, I stayed for 5 nights which was enough, as there isn't much to do at night
