This large, European-managed midrange resort has stacks of mostly detached white cement bungalows set amid winding paths draped in tropical foliage and lanterns.
Like most of Khlong Dao's midrange spots, Island's rooms lack character but are well-kept, spacious and comfortable. All come with good-size balconies to go with air-con, fridges and hot water bathrooms, while all but the cheapest have TVs. The swimming pool is small and set back from the beach, but it will do the trick when you need to cool off. In addition to one of the best Western restaurants on Ko Lanta, Island has a friendly bar where the mostly Scandinavian and German guests joke with the bartenders. The overall atmosphere is relaxed and we found the staff to be more attentive than at similarly priced resorts. Both Golden Bay Cottage and Lanta Sea House have similar setups, minus the extensive foliage and phenomenal burgers.
