Easy to miss down a narrow lane that shoots south off the main road, the Dream House was our favourite of the area's modern guesthouses that rent rooms by the night or the month.
It occupies a medium-size concrete building that puts you within a five-minute walk of the beach and 10 minutes to Saladan. Though lacking much decor, the air-con room we checked us was spotless, spacious and well-equipped with fridge, TV, small safe, table, soft bed, free WiFi, modern hot water bathroom and large private balcony. We were told that fan rooms come with the exact same amenities but are a little smaller and located on on upper floor. The man who showed us around had an upbeat, cheerful attitude that was refreshing after encountering more than a few apathetic receptionists at the bigger beach resorts. If you prefer a bungalow, nearby Baahra has slightly more rundown concrete air-con rooms for an extra 100 baht.
