Lanta New Beach Bungalows
Relaxed vibe

What we say:
No maintenance seems to have been done since this place was built not so many years ago, with its entrance overgrown and shabby, driveways neglected and hut exteriors needing a good clean. Having said that, the interiors of the huts are spacious, clean and well decorated. Lanta New Beach has two sections, making it look like two separate resorts. A relaxed atmosphere pervades the pool and restaurant, which hosts nightly barbecues. A bar also gets set up on the beach. Rooms near the beach all have air-con, TV and hot water showers. They provide a free pick up service from the pier. Staff are friendly, helpful and like to have a good time, which has an infectious effect. Good rooms, enjoyable atmosphere; if only they would give the exteriors a good scrub!

Friendly and relaxed, if a little tired
The tout on the boat was keen to promote the sunset views over Phi Phi from the beachfront bar/restaraunt, which are at least as spectacular in real life as on the leaflets. The food itself was mixed (excellent BBQ fish; disappointing salads) but the restaraunt and bar staff create a friendly, relaxed environment, with plenty of other travellers seeming quite content not to step outside the place for the entire duration of their stay on Lanta. Cute touches include the Pink Floyd wall next to the bar. The strip of beach immediately in front of the resort isn't the best but you'll find softer sand walking 100m in either direction - head north (turn right as you enter the beach) for solitude and south (left) for a slightly busier strip of beach with a choice of other resort bar/restaraunts. The bungalows themselves feel dated more than dirty - despite the name this place has clearly been around for a while and the slightly tired decor is a throwback to past decades. For 500 THB per night (end of high season, fan) the concrete bungalows were certainly spacious enough with home comforts like TV, fridge and hot water in the slightly wobbly bathroom making up for the lack of flair. It also offers two decent pools (three if you wander across to the adjacent Blue Andaman resort, which was advertising black moon parties... ) and motorbike hire, although the ''travel agency'' doesn't provide much more than a heap of leaflets and a phone call, and bungled my bus back up north.

Good value
This place provided spacious rooms. The bathroom was a bit dirty and the toilet seat fell off for some reason, but overall the entire place was really nice and the ability to use the facilities for both hotels (the one next door is attached) made this great value for money. I definitely recommend staying here.
