Bee Bee nails the laid-back, artistic atmosphere that so many backpackers are after.
We felt a little guilty rousing the owner from her peaceful sleep, but she perked up immediately and gave us one of the best welcomes we had on Lanta. Bamboo bungalows are placed back from the beach behind a cosy restaurant/lounge with a couple of hammocks (that's where you'll find the owner). Though they're all made almost entirely from bamboo and have fans and cold-water bathrooms, each room is unique. Some have open lofts with floor cushions while others have enclosed lofts. At least one is perched high over the ground and accessed by a ladder, with a chill space underneath. They all have hammocks and some sort of funky painting or hanging seashells, lending a "gypsy village" feel. We were told that Bee Bee may close and otherwise has no clear-cut rates during the rainy months. Prices jump by 200 baht in late December and early January.
