We had trouble deciding which we liked better between the Sri Lanta and Andalay, as both offer an elegant and soothing midrange experience.
Located at the quiet southern end of the beach, Sri Lanta immediately stands out thanks to huge silk white lotuses that protrude from the sand and stand taller than a Travelfish researcher. From the dark-blue tile swimming pool that fronts the beach, to the melange of hanging lanterns and soothing music that plays in the massage and spa area, Sri Lanta's attention to detail is very fine indeed. The one disadvantage for some will be that most of the detached wood and bamboo cottages are up on the forested hillside, across the road from the beach, though the views should help make up for this. If you don't mind the easy skip down to the sand, you get high ceilings, glossy dark wood floors, lots of bamboo furnishings, soft white floor cushions around low-lying tables and wide glass doors that open onto even wider terraces, as well as air-con, fridge and TV. The Sri group runs an equally romantic sister property on Ko Samui.
