If you're seeking a private seaside villa with far more attention to detail than you'll find at the big midrange resorts, the intimate La Paloma is worth considering.
The spacious rooms are thoughtfully done with tasteful patterned tile floors and Thai touches like silk bed spreads and Lanna-inspired drapes. A full range of furnishings include desks, sitting areas and kitchen tables. Beds are soft, bathrooms spotless and large terraces come with loungers set right over the sand. One room has a private jacuzzi where you can soak while watching the sunset. All four of La Paloma's rooms come fully equipped with TV, fridge, safe, coffee/tea facilities, beautiful hot-water bathroom, additional outdoor shower for washing off after the beach, and fan in addition to air-con. Cribs, high chairs and extra beds can be provided for families, and all but one room has a mini kitchen that comes complete with stove and dishes. Known for excellent service, the Spanish/Thai managed resort is associated with nearby Horizon Bungalows. Rates jump by 500 to 1,000 baht in peak season.
