Description
This is a post-tsunami addition to the beach, and it seems like the place hasn't really caught on yet. The lobby is impressive, but despite the heavily doctored photo in the brochure, it's not really on the beach, the pool is small, and there isn't much going on in the vicinity. Except, of course, for a huge Thai-style hotel being built by the same owners, on a spot that blocks any potential views of the water. After we took a photo of the place, we were told that's generally not allowed. No wonder -- they don't want people comparing the brochure photo to the reality. All the rooms are the same, with TV, mini-bar, fridge, safe, etc. The atmosphere is stiff and the staff are a bit high-strung. In this price range for this type of accommodation, most people would have a better stay in Ao Nang.

Total rooms: 77

Standard - Double
1,500 THB (low season) 3,500 THB (high season)

Ao Nang Buri Resort
118 Moo 3 Haad Nopphara Thara
This is a mid-range resort that opened late 2003, and the grounds are already starting to look a bit shabby and overgrown. The pool is of a decent size, but wedged into a courtyard with the resort looming around it, it looks and feels tiny. The rooms get good marks, though -- pleasant, upscale... more

Sabai Resort
Nopphara Thara Beach Rd
This is a good choice for a long stay on Nopphara Thara Beach for a reasonable price. The rooms are quite good -- a bit plain but bright and homey -- the family bungalows are well-equipped, including stoves to do your own cooking and an ample dining area. The pool isn't huge, but provides a nice... more

Chaya Resort
149 Moo 3, Haad Nopphara Thara
The rooms here are quite pretty, with new wooden furnishings and nice decorative touches. In and of themselves they are sort of worth the price, and the location is quite close to the beach, but the rooms are assembled around a brick courtyard that's baking hot during the day, and give the place... more
