Long Beach Krabi Villas

Friendly owners, thoughtful rooms

What we say: 4 stars

A toddler shot us a timid smile as we approached this charming beach bum hideaway. Once inside the simple open-air restaurant/reception area, the owner greeted us with a big and welcoming grin. Contagious smiles set the stage for this place, and smiles remained on our faces when we left. A cosy cluster of wood and bamboo bungalows are set just back from the beach in leafy grounds with a few beach dogs milling about. The one we checked out had a thatched roof, comfy bed draped in mosquito net, fan, rattan mats on the floor and sea shells hanging from the front porch. A family beachfront cottage with two bedrooms is also available with choice of fan or air-con (they'll switch it off if you don't need it). Long Beach offers home-cooked Thai food and a small bar. No WiFi, but they do have kayaks -- that kind of says it all.
