The words "lazy" and "crazy" were combined to create the most fitting name possible for this hippie hangout in a corner of Haad Phra Ae's northern backpacker enclave.
Billed as a "farm and jungle community", this is a place to meet creative types while staying in some of the cheapest digs on the island. The mixed dorm is set in a rudimentary, partially open-air longhouse that has a collection of mattresses on the floor with mosquito nets, but no individual reading lamps or electrical outlets. With nothing more than thin mattresses, mosquito nets, electrical outlets and hanging lightbulbs, the tiny private huts aren't much of a step up in terms of comfort. There are no locks, and some huts have hanging tapestries for doors. All guests rely on minimal shared bathrooms. Expect murals of Bob Marley and psychedelic Buddhas, a lively reggae bar where guests come together for open-mic nights, and long-haired staff members who we found to be very welcoming and non-pretentious. The same can't always be said for the long-stay guests, who can be clicky and snobby if you don't fit the traveller-hippie mold. The Chill Out House has a very similar vibe to go with cheap dorms nearby.
