By far Lanta's most luxurious hostel, Non La Mer has made the most of its featureless townhouse on the main drag.
With lots of polished concrete and hardwood, downtempo beats playing over the soundsystem and a common area with floor cushions and fast WiFi, the hostel wouldn't be out of place in Bangkok or Singapore. The spacious, bright and immaculate air-con dorm rooms are found upstairs, each with six soft mattresses on sturdy wooden frames, "ensuite" hot water bathrooms and choice of fan or air-con. All rooms are mixed, so you'll probably have to share space with members of the opposite sex. Each bunk comes with private reading lamp, electrical outlet and locker. Staff speak good English and are very helpful, serving a light breakfast each morning for an extra 80 baht. The beach is a five- to 10-minute walk away, and the area immediately around the hostel is more convenient than picturesque. The hostel is next to Lanta International Language School, in case you want to take a Thai class or two.
