Faultless eco-friendly community
Similar to Golden Buddha Resort on Ko Phra Thong and Railay Beach Club in Railay, Koh Jum Beach Villas is a community of private home owners who rent out their beautiful beach houses for much of the year.
With a small swimming pool, restaurant, classy lounge and very professional staff, the resort spans an area of 700 square metres. The dark-wood, thatch-roof houses are set well apart from one another amid native trees and other foliage that was carefully preserved during construction. Other ecologically friendly practices include low-flush toilets, bio-degradable cleaning products, energy-efficient appliances, solar panels on some houses and proper waste and sewage management; this is a true eco-resort. The houses themselves are stunning, from open-fronted single-bed villas through to five-bedroom, multi-bathroom houses that are decked out with museum-worthy art and furnishings. All of the houses are fan cooled, designed for optimal air flow and featuring massive doors that can be propped open so as to make the elaborate sea-view terraces feel like an extension of the living areas. Many of the houses come with full kitchens, dining rooms, garden bathrooms and even private plunge pools. Each house is individually designed and priced differently, so it's best to poke around on the resort's website to see what suits you. There's some space left for new construction if you're in the market for a new beach house. The resort is also home to Koh Jum Divers.
