What we say: 
Rantee Hut went on a massive expansion splurge a few years ago, with some quite luxurious plans, but got caught out by the economic dramas and the owner ran out of cash. What remains is a range of half-built deluxe bungalows and an absolute eyesore of an elevated restaurant on the beach — seriously, what were they thinking? Closed in low season, we were shown around by the sole staffer who was watching over the place and he walked us through the half-built clam-shell styled bungalows (pictured) with the holes on the decks for the jacuzzis that never arrived — as of September 2011 none of these had been completed. A serious amount of cash has been dropped here but our guide was wistful, commenting only that there was a lot of work to be done before high season — he's not kidding. If they ever finish it, check it out.
