Description
Tara Inn has been having a lot of trouble bouncing back from the tsunami, having lost all their ground-floor units. At first they offered accommodation in tents and hastily-constructed bungalows as a stop-gap, but now that most of the other places on Ko Phi Phi are up and running, the stop-gaps are gone and only the units higher up on the hill that survived the deluge are being rented out. The spacious rooms are moderate, with the higher up ones offering good sea views, but they're a tad dated and you kinda feel you could do better. They have good balconies but unfortunately there's zip shade around the area so unless you're some kind of Barry Manilow sun-god the balcony is useless until after sunset. Bathrooms are fine. At the bottom of the hill they've constructed a whole row of shop houses which in October 2007 were just being completed. They have combined forces with Rock GH next door to some effect so they can offer cheap dorm rooms also.

J.J. Bungalows and J.J. Guesthouse
Ton Sai Village, Ko Phi Phi
Set back from Ao Lo Dalam a bit closer to the village, the guesthouse here survived the tsunami and was repaired, and they added some thatch bungalows in a small yard out the back of the restaurant. The guesthouse has cheap, serviceable rooms with shared bathrooms -- probably one of the best... more
