Ao Poh Resort
A great getaway spot

What we say:
Not on Long Beach itself, Ao Poh sits on the same-named beach, which is just to the north of Phi Phi Hill. In high season (Ao Poh is closed in off season), this is one of those places you'll find along the coast where the old spirit of Phi Phi hangs on. At our last wander past in September 2011 the resort was closed for low season, but open just for a buffet lunch for daytrippers from Phuket. A staffer showed us a room, which was a basic wooden and thatch bungalow with a sunken bathroom which we hope will be on the receiving end of a solid sand-blasting before reopening for high season. It is in theory possible to reach here on foot, with a trail signposted off the road behind Phi Phi The Beach Resort, but we got hopelessly lost and gave up on it — only spying Ao Poh Resort the next day as our longtail powered past, so we pulled in for a look-see. There's another bungalow joint going in just south of here, between Ao Poh and Phi Phi Hill Resort, which looked promising though all they had actually finished was the bar. The young Thai hippies hanging out there seemed to be on the right tack, anyway. Once it is finished it should be a better choice than here solely because the bungalows will be in better condition.

I didn't see anyone?
I live near long beach and went there, wanted to get a drink. But I didn't see anybody there...It's strange, only see ''Welcome Ao Poh Beach Resort Bungalow'' sign, but nobody???

Beautiful beach, great people
We didn't actually stay here, but we were dropped off by mistake by the boat taxi on the way to our beach. If we hadn't already booked elsewhere, we would have stayed. We stayed for breakfast - the banana pancakes with nutella are to die for! The owner was fantastic - even when he found out that we weren't staying, he was so helpful in getting us a boat to take us to where we were supposed to be. We were really grateful for his help. Thanks

A very nice place
This is a nice place if you want to get away from the crowds in the centre of Ko Phi Phi, it's very quiet and you can relax at the beach and (during high tide) you can go snorkelling. However, during low tide there are too many nettles to get into the water. This place is very basic but does have a mosquito net. You will need it because during our second day/night we had lots of mosquitoes, frogs rats! and scorpions! in the bathroom.... The boat to Ao Ton Sai will cost you 100 Baht one way, but is free for check in and check out. So you really should like all aspects of nature if you go here!
