The reception to the Anderson is a little difficult to find, but it turns out to be the happiest reception desk in town. The staff were tripping over themselves trying to make us welcome. The Anderson is packed in at the end of a narrow alley in Ton Sai village, an anomalous little place that is half-hotel, half-guesthouse. Rooms are cramped, but they all have air-con, fridge, and TVs with DVD players -- as well as private baths. All rooms have optional air-con in the low season, but mandatory in the high. A lot of people seem to be willing to make the trade-off between space and extra comfort, so it's usually full. One set of rooms are located above a steakhouse, mainly serving Scandinavian crowds, and as such the rooms are often taken by Swedes and Danes. These rooms are accessed via a different restaurant's cooking area which can be a worthwhile adventure in itself. The second set of rooms, by the reception, are the newer. Watch out for the noise at night, as the Anderson is in the thick of the bar action.

* Travelfish researchers visit and review properties on an anonymous basis. By that we mean they show up, in person, and pretend to be either be a potential guest, or somebody looking for a room for a friend or relative. Where possible the researcher will inspect at least a couple of rooms. The rates you see above are what either the desk staff told us they were, or what were in the brochure when they just told us to quit bugging them and look in the brochure. Price is the only plus! - 9th August, 2009
Prices in Phi Phi are crazy high! This was the cheapest. We had a triple room (2 twin beds and a mattress on the floor) for 700B with A/C, but that is because this room doesn't have TV nor bar fridge. The girl in the reception is really nice and helpful and speaks very good English. We had a room in the old part of the hotel and it wasn't that nice. The bathroom smells bad, they must have a sewage problem.

Good value for money - 4th December, 2007
We stayed at two different rooms in this hotel. The first was only 1,000B with air-con. A very small room but it is clean and taken care of. But this room was in the new area (where the reception is) and it's very near two loud bars. Don't expect to sleep until 2am (Thai curfew). The second room was in the older building above a restaurant. This had more room and wasn't loud. It was our cheapest room of our entire holiday and was very OK. It doesn't include breakfast, but you get a 10 % discount for the AC Anderson restaurant. It is also in the middle of the town and near a 7-eleven. So if you plan to party, you can stay at any room. But if you intend to sleep early, make sure you have a room in the old building.
