Diamond Cave Resort
Massive - good overflow spot

What we say:
This massive spot is worth checking out if everywhere else is full simply due to their vast number of rooms. It's a veritable bungalow-burb out behind reception, with row after row of bland concrete cubes. Not pretty to look at, but inside they're clean and reasonably well maintained -- some are colourfully decorated and pretty nice. The deals here on the rooms that sleep four are excellent for families and groups. The new pool is a welcome addition for those who couldn't be bothered with the trek to the water.

There are better places on Railay East
Stayed here with a big group for New Year's, while they were relatively accommodating when we had a few extra folks show up without reservation, I probably wouldn't stay here again. We booked two rooms in the ''villa'' and one bungalow. Villa was 2,000THB/night, the bungalow was 1,500THB/night. In the villa, it looked like the only cleaning done to the room was to change the sheets. The bathroom looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months with plenty of grime on the tiles. Funky smell to the room. Toilet paper was elusive, our friends in the bungalow didn't get towels, the aircon in one of the rooms worked intermittently, the hot water in the same room didn't work at all. It feels like this place was probably a real gem-classy for Railay East and worth the money-about 15 years ago but needs some maintenance to regain its price status. If you're traveling with a big group (10-12) and you're looking to stay in something better than a shack on the beach, it could be worth the stay. I think there are cheaper and better places to stay on Railay East.

The pool is the best bit
I got a double room here for 600B which I thought was a bit of a bargain given the other prices I'd been quoted. The pool is nice but as said below, the sun is blocked off in the early afternoon. The room was clean but very smelly when I turned the fan off at night. I went to reception the next day to book 2 more nights and was told that the price had increased to 1100B for my room as it was now peak season. There had been no mention of this when I'd checked in the previous day and the staff were quite rude about it, so I moved on. If you can get a good deal then I'd say it's worth staying here as Railay is such a small resort anyway, it still doesn't take that long to get to the nice beaches.

Not worth the money
Decent room, decent pool, long walk from any of the good beaches. I also didn't like that they forced be to leave a passport at the front desk during my entire stay. As someone else stayed, it's not exactly a resort, and definitely not worth 1600 baht for an A/C bungalow.

Under the rock
Great, not super cheap but for the 1200 baht i paid was well worth it. Clean, good air-con, amazing location under the limestone cliffs. Pool is great, it a 10 min walk to the nice beach but who cares!! and the food around here is good and cheap.

waste of money
The ''resort'' is not a resort. It has a nice pool, that seemed clean. However, for 1800 THB, you get a mouldy smelling dirty room, the air con didin't work, the cable tv, was ESPN and one Asian chanel. We moved to a bungalow, for 1200,it was nicer than the main buliding rooms, not mouldy smelling, but had other issues, the aircon went out in the middle of the night, the bathroom was dirty, moldy tiles, and the ill fitting none secure door, had big gaps where all sorts of critters could come and go as they pleased. Railiy Beach was a disapointment overall, so overdeveloped and dirty, smelling of sewerage, piles of trash everywhere behind the resorts... no good places to stay that weren't outrageous price. The beach views spoilied by the row of longtail boats that motor in and out, offering no peace and quiet. Of course the staff who seemed to understand nothing.. we not of much help.Wish I had a better place to recommend, but we ran out of time, and only had this last disapointing stop.

good value for money
This was a great hotel for the price. Very large room, very clean. Only problem was that we had a very long walk to get to it (may have got off boat in wrong place though), and it's slightly uphill when you get there. Also, one of the nights when we arrived back, there were no outside lights on, so almost impossible to find our way back to our room. Also, huge rock adjacent is beautiful, but blocks out sun around pool fairly early on. But all round, fairly luxurious for the price.
