Diamond Private Resort
Last on the beach

What we say:
This large resort is the last spot on the back beach at the top of a very long shadeless stairway. Don't think you can rest once you arrive at reception -- some of the bungalows are still a long walk from there. The resort has a decent pool with great views over the bay saving you the trip back down if necessary. The rooms are fair, with some of them particularly well sized, with good bathrooms and balconies with a view.

big climb, nice views, clean pool
Stayed here for 4 nights in a bungalow with private bathroom for 900 baht a night. It's quite a climb to get there, but then you get nice views and a clean pool. They provided me with a big can of bugs spray which I could hold onto until I left. The staff was very friendly.

Awful
I was suckered by the view and decided to book for five nights. After the first air-con room had no mosquito net, I was eaten alive (despite bug repellent repeatedly applied), when I asked to check out early and get a refund, they refused, but agreed to upgrade me. This morning new silk cotten pants from Laos had been eaten through by a rat. Management is refusing to reimburse, since they upgraded. This place sucks and East Railay really sucks.
