Rayavadee
Luxurious

What we say:
The Rayavadee is a bold move to insert high-end luxury into what is traditionally a back-packer and mid-range market. Located on 26 acres of coconut groves and bordered by three National Park beaches, it spans the isthmus from Railay East to Railay West, and also spreads south down to the edge of Ao Phra Nang. The pavilions are gorgeous -- two story octagonal buildings that look like little lighthouses. Inside there's a living room on the first floor, done up in dark woods, and a winding spiral staircase leading up to the post sleeping digs on the second floor. Some come with private gardens, jacuzzis, and private pools. The shared pool is humungous -- located on Raileh West, overlooking the water. The staff and management are surprisingly friendly and accessible for such a tony place. Also, there's no extra charge for activities and water-sports equipment, so once you pay for the room, you're pretty well set. You'd definitely have to be a high-roller to stay here, but you'll get what you paid for. Prices do not include taxes and surcharges. Be sure to shop around for an internet rate.
