The owners of this isolated hilltop bungalow joint may have sold themselves short by naming it Garden View when, in fact, many of the bungalows afford sweeping ocean views as well.
Like a simpler version of neighbouring Great View, the stilted tin-roofed wood-and-bamboo bungalows are spread fairly far apart over a forested hilltop with abundant tropical flowers. Interiors are well kept and have thoughtful touches like woven bamboo walls, Thai axe pillow chill spaces and ceramic basin sinks in bright, clean bathrooms with hot water. The spacious rooms are equipped with fans, desks, comfy beds draped in mosquito nets and large front porches with at least partial sea views. If possible, go for the corner bungalow with extra privacy and the best views. WiFi is free in a sea-view restaurant area where the included breakfasts are served. Reachable only by a long, steep stairway, Garden View is at least a 20-minute walk from Railay West and Haad Phra Nang. The man who showed us around was relaxed and down to earth, which we found refreshing. There aren’t many rooms here so it’s wise to reserve in advance.
