The Forest Resort

Sturdy rooms in the jungle

What we say: 3.5 stars

Just up from Sai Thong, The Forest has simple attached fan rooms in a newish wood building and decent sized free-standing wood and bamboo bungalows nestled along the forested hill behind reception. All rooms come with fans, mattresses on the floor, mosquito nets and cold water ensuite bathrooms. The larger wood bungalows have spacious porches with chairs, but bamboo editions offer great porches with built in benches high above the ground -- it almost feels like being in a treehouse. Standard fan rooms in the wooden longhouse have tile floors and "proper" glass windows, but they lack the charm of the bungalows and the porches are nothing to write home about. The resort is run by an older Thai couple and the man was quick to show us around.
