Khao Lak Seafood Family House
Popular spot

What we say:
Offering better but pricier rooms than nearby Jai Bungalows, Khao Lak Seafood is a popular place to stay and eat right along the main road in Nang Thong. Rooms are set back in a quiet, lush garden area behind the restaurant. Fan rooms are spacious, simple and clean with comfortable beds on raised bamboo platforms, cute little desks and mirrors, towel racks, clean and pleasant hot water bathrooms and decent front porches with tables overlooking the garden. The air-con offerings are in a two storey building and are equally comfortable, although perhaps a little overpriced when compared to Banana Bungalows and Baan Noen Thong nearby. You'll have to pay 200B to buy a TOT WiFi card, but Khao Lak Seafood is one of the more popular restaurants on the street, and there are a tonne of other bars and eateries nearby.

Cool bungalows
Nice place to stay, very clean, spacious, up the road a little bit from the restaurant. Restaurant had good food, but was always so busy with lots of people with children and babies (not conducive to quiet nights!). 10 + minute walk to the beach.

Nice, comfortable, clean and Songkran fun
We had a fan bungalow (A10) at the back of the garden, set up as a triple with a single bed along with the normal queensize. Clean, airy, plenty of towels and toilet paper (but bring your own soap). Our 14-yr.-old daughter really liked the bathroom layout and blue tiles. Comfortable porch although a lot of mosquitoes; the screens on the cottage are good, but the buggers tend to slip in with you! Really good laundry service at 50 bht per kg (incl. ironing and folding and punctual return), very nice restaurant with professional staff. They serve barracuda 6 or 7 ways, and recommended it cooked in banana leaf--it was very tasty. We were there over Songkran, and it was a really special experience. The restaurant staff/family are very enthusiastic, setting up a stand with barrels of icewater for pouring at the corner of the main road pretty early! They invited us and our friends for a dish of noodles and curry at midday as their guests in the restaurant, which was closed to the public until the evening. They also arranged our taxi for the next day (to the airport)--1200 bht, punctual, friendly. There´s a path to the beach not far from the restaurant, and you´re there in about 10-15 minutes (mosquitos on the way!) although we would have liked to be a little closer...but no complaints, really!

Liked this place
Paid 600 baht for a double with a fan, and we didn't need the A/C. We didn't have the same gecko experience mentioned below. We liked the place, its location (a 10 min walk to the beach). The food at the restaurant was great, evidenced by the amount of people dining there. Frequently crowded or full, so make a reservation. Call them when you arrive in Khao Lok and they'll send the van to get you.

quiet, lush accomodation
stayed here for one night. this place has character and has a restaurant attached to it that serves good food. overall, it's nice and quaint... but too many geckos as roommates forced me to move to another ''resort'' nearby. i paid 500B for a roommy place with a fan.
