Seaweed Hostel
Fresh and funky

What we say:
Ready to give Walkers Inn a run for its money, Seaweed is a recent arrival on the scene that's aiming at the younger, budget backpacker set. Less than a five minute walk from the beach, Seaweed is situated smack in the middle of Nang Thong, and its hip, laid back atmosphere certainly does make it noticeable. The lobby is decorated in a bright, artsy theme with surfboards painted on the walls alongside an area where travellers can draw a picture or leave a note in magic marker. Despite the cool entrance, rooms are pretty average — private fan rooms are a little dark and empty, and although they are big and clean, they don't quite stack up to what we saw elsewhere at the same price. The shared fan dorm room is spacious and comfortable, but for 100B cheaper Walkers Inn down the road is brighter and just as good. Seaweed also has some interesting octagon air-con bungalows in back clustered around a grassy lawn. They were full when we visited, but appear to be promising. WiFi is free and there's a free communal computer in the lobby as well.
