Thup Thong Guest House & Bungalows
Spacious, comfortable, at the beach

What we say:
Tucked towards the northern end of the road that fronts Bang Niang beach, Thup Thong is the only true budget guesthouse on this stretch, and thankfully it's a good one. The three storey guesthouse features large, airy and bright fan rooms with comfortable beds, fresh smelling linens, large fridges, several screened windows, sitting areas both inside and out side on spacious porches, and quality fans that can be moved around the room. Bathrooms are large, simple and clean, but they come with cold water only. Front facing rooms cost an extra 200 baht thanks to ocean views. Closer to the small road (and beach) are a few brand new air-con rooms that are referred to as bungalows but are technically just rooms in a connected single storey building. These are a tad larger than the fan rooms and come with newer appliances, including flatscreen TVs and new hot water heaters in the clean bathrooms. We felt the air-con rooms lacked the charm of their fan counterparts and felt a bit utilitarian, but they're certainly comfortable. There's an open air restaurant on site and the guesthouse rents out motorbikes and arranges tours of the area. WiFi is free but only works in the lobby. To get the beach guests simply have to walk across the street and over a very short path. It's a family run spot with very friendly and sincere staff. Recommended, but closed in low season.
