Lake View Bungalows
If we could pick just one place to stay

What we say:
Owned and operated by a laid back Thai woman and her chatty German husband, Lake View is a small, relaxed resort spread over a quiet and shady stretch of land across the street from a small lake and just a three minute walk to Khuk Khak beach. Rooms are easily the best we saw in this price range in the whole area. Each are a little different, but all were designed and built by the owners themselves explicitly to be as feng shui as possible. Detached cottages with high ceilings are spaced well away from one another, and all are bright, clean, spacious and well equipped with air-con, fridges, pleasant open air hot water bathrooms, comfortable beds with sumptuous linens, well placed furniture, and large front porches. The largest of these accommodates up to six people. There are also a couple rooms in a unique tower, each subdued and comfortable but very stylish with hardwood floors, bamboo walls, and tall windows to let in the breeze. These come only with fan but are designed for optimal air flow and stay relatively cool. The resort occupies a large, peaceful piece of land that's filled with flower gardens and fruit trees. Although the sea is not quite visible from the rooms you can sense its presence and smell its scent on the breeze, and it's a short, easy walk down a sandy path to get there. The resort is rather isolated, but there is a restaurant on site serving Thai and German fare. There's no WiFi or TVs, but it's a good setting to forget the world so you might not mind. This is a popular spot in high season so it's a good idea to book ahead. There are no set off season rates but discounts may be expected in the rainy months.
