Golden Buddha Beach Resort
An unlikely island community

What we say:
When first walking into the spread out grounds of Golden Buddha's 25 beach front houses, it felt more like a small beach community than a resort, and that's because in fact it is one. Golden Buddha is a unique environmentally conscious project started in 1995 that sells small plots of land to people from all over the globe, and facilitates the building of eco-friendly houses. The owners use the houses occasionally — some are inhabited by owners more frequently than others — but when not in use the resort management rents them out, and there are almost always several available. Houses range from simple one room or two room raised cottages to impressive two floor multi room homes, but all are tastefully designed, many in the spirit of traditional Thai architecture. It's not cheap to stay here, but the resort features an excellent restaurant, yoga and other activities, and seemingly endless untouched beachfront. Golden Buddha has received praise as one of the most consistently positive reviewed resorts in Thailand by customers, and for those who can afford it the resort offers an experience unlike any other in Thailand. They are however open only from November 1 to May 1 each year.
