National Park Accommodation
Cheap tent or expensive cottage

What we say:
Camping is available on the small white sand beaches of Ao Kong Khad and Ao Mai Ngam, with the latter being the more picturesque spot. Tents are provided by the national park with mats and sleeping bags available for an extra charge. At both locations, tents are standard issue relatively large (can sleep three adults comfortably, four if you're willing to squeeze a bit) with windows and rain covers, and they're set up very close to one another in rows. Many are situated under shady trees and those in the front are literally a few steps to the sea during high tide. The sound of the waves crashing at night can be noisy. Several tour companies and diving operations have their own tent set ups a bit further away from the restaurant area. Sabina Tour's are closest to the beach while Greenview's are situated a good distance away. Bathrooms are basic shared cold water showers and stalls with both western and squat toilets, and we found these to be cleaner and in better shape than many of Thailand's other national parks. Sinks are located outside with small, faded mirrors perched above them.
There are also several large and comfortable cottages with very firm beds, clean hot water bathrooms, air-con, and large front porches with chairs located between the visitor centre and camping area at Kong Khad. These don't have a sea view and are situated at a rather busy stretch that sees a lot of foot traffic, but they are a comfortable choice for those with a little more to spend. Particularly during the peak months of December, January and February these are often fully booked so it's best to make reservations in advance through the national park website. Over at Mai Ngam there are also a couple expensive but very large fan and cold water bath cottages with big front porches set to the east of the restaurant area in a shady, secluded location. Both are very basic but have several rooms and are a good option for groups. The larger of the two has four bedrooms and can sleep up to 15 people.
