Ban Ton Ruk

Stylish in an old fashioned way

What we say: 4 stars

Heading just west away from the bus station (take a left out of the parking lot), Ban Ton Ruk offers the most comfortable accommodation in Takua Pa. Designed in a Thai theme with brick and wood, a large open air lobby area has a pleasant feel, and the rooms are equally welcoming. Standards are set back from the road along the driveway in front of the lobby, and each are very comfortable and well equipped with flat screen TVs, fridges, clean and modern hot water bathrooms, air-con, free WiFi, shiny white tile floors and large front porches. Behind the lobby there's a large and tranquil pond that seems to come out of nowhere, and the hotel offers one unique floating room that is not only comfortable but exceptionally stylish in a mature, Zen sort of way. While it is only 500 metres from the bus station, Ban Ton Ruk is not all that easy to find. At time of writing the sign was only written in Thai apart from the English word, Welcome, although they claim to be adding an English sign soon. Before that happens, look for that sign and the hotel's lobby is set back from the road down a fairly long driveway, on the right if walking away from the bus station. Alternately, the motorbike drivers at the bus station can take you here for 20-30B. Very little English is spoken but staff are warm and welcoming.
