What we say:

This small, friendly guesthouse (no English sign) is an out-of-culture experience which may not be for everyone, but if you're looking for a cheap fan room, this is a leading contender. It's oriented towards the lowest-income, show-and-blow, Thai tourists that visit Cha-am. The first floor is a line of showers for washing off the salt and sand after a day at the beach--10 THB per person. But at the other end of this watery gauntlet are stairs leading up to three floors of small, acceptably-clean rooms. Each has a bathroom and a fridge, and the three front rooms have pleasant balconies overlooking the sea, which, while accessed through the hall, are technically reserved for that room only. All rooms have TVs with UBC, which is a step up from basic cable. They don't cater to falang at all, but they seem delighted when they show up--which isn't often. Be prepared to speak Thai or learn mime--little English is spoken. It's hard to find a cheaper room in Cha-am, or better value for your money, or a better way to get people to look at you and say, You're staying there? Really?
