Charming rooms in the house
This is a curious yet friendly place located straight across the road from the long-running Rabieng Rimnum Guesthouse.
The guesthouse (this is no resort!) has a cute little garden area overlooking the river that is also home to three super basic bamboo huts with shared bathroom -- think of it as Ko Pha Ngan in Phetchaburi. A handful of fan-cooled or air-conditioned rooms in the old house that faces onto the quiet street are the better choice. Simple but lovely, with a shared bathroom downstairs, they have the edge over the huts. There is also a small cafe on the ground floor, and staff are friendly and chatty. While the bamboo shacks are definitely overpriced, the rooms in the house are more respectable value. This is the pick of the downtown places to stay.
