The Evason

Your chance at a private island

What we say: 4 stars

The Evason is a bastion of unparallelled lushness and luxury, but those who can afford to stay here would hardly be poking around the internet reading Travelfish.org reviews: they're having one of their staff do it for them. The massive resort is jaw-dropping sitting on acres of forest, vegetable gardens and lotus-filled lakes. There's a dizzying variety of studios, rooms, villas, and suites. Most feature unblocked sea views, some have private swimming pools, and all will set you back a small fortune. At the time of research, one wing of the complex was being renovated — the others could use it too though. A library, fitness centre, two tennis and volleyball courts, five restaurants, full-service day spa, and an on-site medical clinic are but a small sampling of the Evason's facilities. If you prefer to swim somewhere more natural than any of the resort's three pools, take the complimentary longtail boat to their private island — Ko Bon — which has some fine snorkelling. One couple per night is even permitted to stay over — just an extra 25,000B to their total bill. Following prices are rack rates and do not include breakfast, taxes, service charges, or even a lousy ride from the airport.
