What we say:

It's a bumpy trek to Aochalong Villa, so it's a genuine surprise to find a very pleasant, first-class boutique resort at the end of the dirt road. Depending how you look at it, the location is either isolated and inconvenient or peaceful and secure. Although the prices vary a lot, all of the rooms have the same amenities — satellite TV, air-con, free WiFi and sumptuous king-sized beds. The standard rooms are more cramped than the villas, but are excellent value even during high season. If booking a seaview villa in advance, make sure you snag the one with an actual seaview — there's only one. The beach is shallow and muddy, but the resort's two pools, jacuzzi, and sauna do a good job making up for it. The resort restaurant stretches out onto the beach and serves delicious Thai and Western meals. Come evening, you can enjoy a fresh seafood dinner under the stars. All in all, Aochalong Villa is one of the best value-for-money resorts on Phuket. Recommended.
