If you're seeking a relaxing holiday and the familiarity that only a chain hotel can provide, the Best Western Bangtao won't disappoint. Catering to families with children, the hotel has three great pools with water-spouting dolphins (two large pools and one kiddy pool), a games room, and two casual restaurants serving more Western than Thai dishes. For adults needing some R&R there's a spa with open-air massage huts and a line of chaise loungers near the water's edge. One down-side is that the beach is rocky in this part of Bang Tao so you'll want to go a bit further north to swim in the sea. The rooms are spic and span with air-con, satellite TV and everything else you'd expect, but have that mass-produced feel. Couple wanting a little extra romance should seriously consider the deluxe bungalows; separate from the main hotel building and with a private jacuzzi tub, they're worth the extra baht. Before booking be sure to search online for early-bird discounts and special value packages. Be wary of minimum stays and compulsory gala dinners in peak season. Prices include 7% VAT and breakfast.
