Ban Raya
A beautiful resort in the heart of nature

What we say:
Located on the island's east, the Ban Raya is quite a hike from other inhabited bits of Raya but the resort's facilities will keep you from having to wander too far. The pavilions, the most expensive of the bungalows, are fully kitted out with satellite TV, living rooms, and simple kitchen facilities. Some are connected to each other, making them a good choice for groups or families. As the price falls the extra touches disappear, but all are well-designed and impeccably clean. A handful of older fan bungalows remain, but don't even have 24-hour electricity and are poor value. If you do end up in one of the older options, you can also spend time in the spa, clubhouse or beach bar, the newest of the facilities at the Ban Raya. Although most of the bungalows aren't that spectacular, what is remarkable about Ban Raya is its lush surroundings and peacefulness. The resort has 60 acres of sprawling green grounds lined with palm trees that are ideal for mountain-biking and nature walks, a private beach, and a stunning cliff-top pool area. The open-air restaurant has a view of Kon Kare Bay, one of the island’s best snorkelling spots, and serves Chinese, Thai, and Western dishes. If you are keen to explore Kon Kare Bay in depth, check out the resort’s diving options. Website has low season promotions like free nights and automatic room upgrades on top of the discounted rates. Recommended.
